  1. Using the J 45027 tool  (1) reset the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner plunger (2).

    2. Object Number: 1961717 Size: SH
  2. Install the plunger (1) into the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner body (2).

    3. Object Number: 1961718 Size: SH
  3. Compress the plunger into the body and lock the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner (2) by inserting the EN 46112 pins  (1) into the access hole in the side of the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner (2).
  4. Slowly release pressure on the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner. The primary camshaft drive chain tensioner should remain compressed.

  5. Install a NEW primary camshaft drive chain tensioner gasket (1) to the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner (2).
  6. Install the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner bolts (3) through the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner (2) and gasket (1).
  7. Ensure the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner mounting surface on the engine block does not have any burrs or defects that may degrade the sealing of the NEW primary camshaft drive chain tensioner gasket (1).

  8. Place the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner (2) into position and loosely install the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner to cylinder block retaining bolts (1).

    9. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  9. Verify the proper placement of the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner gasket tab (1).
  10. Tighten the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner to cylinder block retaining bolts (2)
    11. 10.1. First Pass

    Tighten the bolts to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

    10.2. Final Pass

    Tighten the bolts to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).

  11. Release the primary camshaft drive chain tensioner (1) by pulling out the EN 46112 pins  (2).
  12. Verify the primary and left secondary camshaft drive chain timing mark alignments (1-12). Refer to Camshaft Timing Drive Chain Alignment Diagram.

  13. Remove the EN 46105 tools  (2) from the rear of the left hand camshafts (1).

    14. Object Number: 1958785 Size: SH
  14. Using the EN 46111 socket  (1) rotate the crankshaft and crankshaft sprocket from the stage one alignment position (1) to the stage two alignment position, 115 crankshaft degrees, in order to install the right secondary camshaft drive chain components.

  15. Install the EN 46105 tools  (2) onto the rear of the left hand camshafts (1).

    16. Object Number: 1958037 Size: SH
  16. Install the EN 46105 tools  (2) onto the rear of the right hand camshafts (1).
