Makes 🢒 Pontiac 🢒 2009 🢒 G8 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Mechanical - 2.8L, 3.0L, 3.2L, or 3.6L 🢒 Oil Filter Adapter Installation

    Object Number: 1958093 Size: SH
  1. Position a NEW oil filter adapter gasket (4) onto the oil filter adapter (1).
  2. Install the M8 lower oil filter adapter to cylinder block retaining bolts (3).
  3. Loosely tighten the M8 lower oil filter adapter to cylinder block retaining bolts (3).
  4. Install the M10 upper oil filter adapter to cylinder head retaining bolt (2).
  5. Loosely tighten the M10 upper oil filter adapter to cylinder head retaining bolt (2).

    6. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  6. Tighten the M8 lower oil filter adapter to cylinder block retaining bolts (3) and tighten to 23 N·m (17 lb ft).
  7. Tighten the M10 upper oil filter adapter to cylinder head retaining bolt (2) and tighten to 58 N·m (42 lb ft).

  8. Remove the oil filter cap (1).

    9. Object Number: 1961743 Size: SH

    Caution: Lubrication must be applied to the threads of the oil filter cap prior to installation. Failure to lubricate the oil filter cap threads can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.

  9. Lubricate the oil filter cap threads with clean engine oil.

    10. Object Number: 1958091 Size: SH
  10. Install the NEW oil filter cartridge (2).

    11. Caution: Proper oil filter cap tightening is mandatory. Failure to tighten the oil filter cap to the proper specification can hinder later removal and cause possible oil filter cap damage.

    Note: Use a six-point socket to install the oil filter cap.

  11. Install the oil filter adapter cap (1) to the engine oil filter adapter (3) and tighten to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
