Removal Procedure
Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.
- Disconnect the battery ground cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
- Remove the rear window shelf trim panel. Refer to
Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement.
- Disengage the backup battery supporting bracket retaining clip (2) to release the backup battery (1).
- In the rear compartment, under the rear window shelf, using a suitable tool disengage the retaining clips (1) and remove the backup battery assembly.
- Disconnect the backup battery electrical connector (1) from the backup battery (2).
Note: If replacing the battery, dispose of the battery in an environmentally friendly manner.
Note: Slide the backup battery (1) over the backup battery supporting bracket retaining clip (2) and remove the backup battery (1) from the battery supporting bracket (3).
- Remove the backup battery (1) from the backup battery supporting bracket (3).
Installation Procedure
Note: Slide the backup battery (1) over the backup battery supporting bracket retaining clip (2) and listen for an audible click to ensure that the backup battery supporting bracket retaining clip (2) engages correctly
to avoid an induced rattle condition.
- Install the backup battery (1) to the backup battery supporting bracket (3).
Note: Make sure that the backup battery supporting bracket retaining clips (1) engages correctly to avoid an induced rattle condition.
- Install the backup battery assembly to the rear window shelf and ensure that the retaining clips (1) engages correctly.
- Connect the backup battery electrical connector (1) to the backup battery (2).
- Install the rear window shelf trim panel. Refer to
Rear Window Shelf Trim Panel Replacement.
- Connect the battery ground cable. Refer to
Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
