Removal Procedure
Note: When a suitable hold open device is being removed
or installed, provide alternate support to avoid the possibility of damage to the
vehicle or personal injury.
- Open and support the rear compartment lid with a suitable brace.
- Remove the rear compartment lid spoiler retaining fasteners (1)
from the rear spoiler studs (2).
- Remove the suitable brace and lower the rear compartment lid.
Note: Protect the paint and body work with tape or a clean
cloth. Failure to do so may result in damage to painted surfaces.
Note: The rear compartment lid spoiler (2) is retained
by retention clips (3). The retention clips must be discarded upon removal.
Note: The rear compartment lid spoiler retention clips (3)
may remain engaged in the rear compartment lid (1) upon removal of the rear
compartment lid spoiler (2). They must be removed and discarded.
- Insert a suitable flat bladed plastic tool between the rear compartment lid (1)
and the rear compartment lid spoiler (2).
- Applying sufficient force in an upward motion, remove the rear compartment
lid spoiler (2) from the rear compartment lid (1), disengaging the retention
clips (3) and spoiler mounting studs (4) from the double-sided adhesive
tape on the exterior surface of the rear compartment lid (1).
- Securely position the rear spoiler assembly (4)
upside down on a suitable working platform.
- Remove the rear spoiler double-sided adhesive tape (1), mounting
studs (2) and retention clips (3) from the rear spoiler assembly (4).
- Remove the foam insulators (1) from
the exterior surface of the rear compartment lid (2).
Installation Procedure
Note: Protect the rear spoiler assembly (4) external
painted surfaces with tape or a clean cloth. Failure to do so may result in damage
to painted surfaces.
- Securely position the rear spoiler assembly (4) upside down on a suitable
working platform.
- Install the rear spoiler double-sided adhesive tape (1), mounting
studs (2) and retention clips (3) onto the rear spoiler assembly (4).
Note: Protect the paint and body work with tape or a clean
cloth. Failure to do so may result in damage to painted surfaces.
Note: Prior to installing the rear compartment lid spoiler (2)
onto the rear compartment lid (1), make sure that all the required insulators
are installed correctly and are engaged onto the spoiler mounting studs and retainers
during the rear compartment lid spoiler (2) installation onto the rear compartment
lid (1).
- Using sufficient force in an downward motion, install the rear compartment lid
spoiler (2) onto the rear compartment lid (1), engaging the retention
clips (3) and spoiler mounting studs (4) into the exterior surface of
the rear compartment lid (1).
- Make sure that the rear compartment lid spoiler (2) adheres correctly
to the double-sided adhesive tape on the exterior surface of the rear compartment
lid (1).
- Check the installed condition between the rear compartment lid (1)
and the rear compartment lid spoiler (2).
Note: When a suitable hold open device is being removed

- Open and support the rear compartment lid with a suitable brace.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
- Install the rear compartment lid spoiler retaining fasteners (1) onto
the rear spoiler studs (2) and tighten to
4.0 N·m
(27 lb in).
- Remove the suitable brace and close the rear compartment lid.
