Removal Procedure
- Remove the door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement.
- Pull the rear half of the water deflector away from the door panel in order to access the outside door handle.
Note: Pry the outside door handle rod retaining clip (1) using a suitable tool.
- Disconnect the outside door handle rod (2) from the door handle rod retaining clip (1).
- Remove the lock actuating rod (1) from the lock cylinder (2) (if fitted).
Note: Remove the rubber blanking grommet to allow access to the retaining bolt (1).
- Remove the outside door handle to door retaining bolt (1).
Note: Replace the gaskets (2, 3) when replacing the outside door handle (1, 4).
- Remove the outside door handle (1, 4) from the door.
Note: The outside door handle retaining nut (1) must be loosened to remove the inner part of the outer door handle.
- Loosen the outside door handle retaining nut (1).
- Push on the outside door handle retaining nut and stud to relieve pressure between the inner part of the door handle and the door.
Note: Push the retaining tabs (2) inwards to release them then push the inner handle towards the front of the car to release the retaining pin (1).
- Remove the inner part of the outer door handle (1, 2).
- Remove the inner part (1) of the outer door handle from the door (2).
Installation Procedure
- Position the inner part (1) of the outer door handle to the door (2).
Note: Lock in the retaining pin (1) by pushing towards the rear of the car then outwards to engage the retaining tabs (2).
- Position the inner part of the outer door handle (1, 2).
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: The outside door handle retaining nut (1) must be tightened to fasten the inner part of the outer door handle.
- Tighten the outside door handle retaining nut (1) to
4 N·m (35 lb in).
Note: Replace the gaskets (2, 3) when replacing the outside door handle (1, 4).
- Position the outside door handle (1,4) to the door.
- Install the outside door handle to door and retaining bolt (1) and tighten to
4 N·m (35 lb in).
Note: Attach the door handle rod retaining clip (1) by pressing clip together over door handle rod until an audible click is heard.
- Connect the outside door handle rod (2) to the door handle rod retaining clip (1).
Note: The lock actuating rod (2) pushes into the lock cylinder retaining clip (1).
- Install the lock actuating rod (1) to the lock cylinder retaining clip (2) (if fitted).
Note: Firmly press the water deflector where adhesive is applied to make sure water tight bond.
- Install the rear half of the water deflector to the door panel.
- Install the rubber blanking grommet.
- Install the door trim panel. Refer to
Front Side Door Trim Panel Replacement.
