Removal Procedure
Notice: Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage many solid-state electrical components.
ESD susceptible components may or may not be labeled with the ESD symbol. Handle
all electrical components carefully. Use the following precautions in order to avoid
ESD damage:
ā¢ | Touch a metal ground point in order to remove your body's static charge
before servicing any electronic component; especially after sliding across the vehicle
seat. |
ā¢ | Do not touch exposed terminals. Terminals may connect to circuits susceptible
the ESD damage. |
ā¢ | Do not allow tools to contact exposed terminals when servicing connectors. |
ā¢ | Do not remove components from their protective packaging until required
to do so. |
ā¢ | Avoid the following actions unless required by the diagnostic procedure: |
- | Jumpering or grounding of the components or connectors. |
- | Connecting test equipment probes to components or connectors. Connect
the ground lead first when using test probes. |
ā¢ | Ground the protective packaging of any component before opening. Do not
rest solid-state components on metal workbenches, or on top of TVs, radios, or other
electrical devices. |
Important: The keyless entry transmitters must be replaced when installing a new body control
module (BCM).
Important: You must perform the new body control module (BCM) setup when replacing
the BCM. Refer to
Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration
.
- Remove the right closeout insulator/trim panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in Instrument Panel, Gages
and Console.
- Remove the screw (2) attaching the BCM (1) to the bracket.
- Release the rear retaining tab and gently remove the BCM from the mounting
bracket.
- Disconnect the 4 wiring harness connectors by pressing each connector
tab and pulling the connector away from the module.
Installation Procedure
- Align the BCM (1) to the bracket, making sure the retaining tabs are
correctly located.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the screw (2) attaching the BCM (2) to the bracket.
Tighten
Tighten the screw to 2 NĀ·m (18 lb in).
- Connect the 4 BCM electrical connectors.
- Install the right closeout insulator/trim panel. Refer to
Instrument Panel Insulator Panel Replacement - Right Side
in Instrument Panel, Gages
and Console.
- Perform the new BCM setup. Refer to
Body Control Module (BCM) Programming/RPO Configuration
.
- Program the transmitters. Refer to
Transmitter Programming
in Keyless Entry.
