Test Description

The numbers below refer to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. This step triggers the diagnostic self test. The ON-OFF pushbutton must be held until Step 6.

  2. This step tests the SET-DECEL function of the cruise control switch assembly.

  3. This step tests the RES-ACCEL function of the cruise control switch assembly.

  4. This step tests the cruise control electrical release switch (switch B).

  5. This step tests the clutch pedal release switch. This is included for vehicles with manual transmissions. If the vehicle is fitted with an automatic transmission, then the brake pedal must be pressed and released as in the previous step to enable the completion of the switch diagnostic tests.

  6. This step triggers the second stage of the diagnostic self test and tests the cruise control ON-OFF switch, the cruise control indicators, and tests the stop lamp switch (switch A) and cruise control switch inputs to the cruise control module.

  7. This step triggers the final stage of the diagnostic self test, allowing the vehicle to be road tested without having to hold the cruise control function buttons. This step also tests the operation of the cruise control stepper motor and cable. During this test, the stepper motor should cycle and return to the rest position (closed throttle).

  8. This step checks the speed sender input to the cruise control module. The cruise ACTIVE indicator will flash with the vehicle speed signal.

  9. This step ends the cruise control diagnostic mode.
