Subject:Engine Low Power with Traction Control Turned On and Aggressive Acceleration

Models:.

The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the described symptoms in the PI.

Condition/Concern:

A GTO may have a concern of torque mangement going active and there is low engine power, and a misfire when accelerating from a stop. This only happens on aggressive acceleration (100% throttle angle). The PCM first starts to retard the spark, then the PCM begins to disable injectors. Turning off the traction control button will allow the vehicle to operate normally.

Recommendation/Instructions:

Inspect the PCM brake input relay located in the underhood bus electrical center. Using the Tech 2, go into powertrain engine data 2. Check TCC brake switch input for being applied at all times. Replace the relay and recheck operation. The input to the pcm for the TCC brake input signal will cause the pcm to go into torque management.

.

Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed. If these steps do not resolve the condition, please contact GM TAC for further diagnostic assistance.
