The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.
Condition/Concern:
On the 2004 and early build 2005 GTOs the customer may have a complaint of rough seat operation, notchy feel or forward and rearward looseness. When driving seat forward or rearward approximately half way through the movement a knock/notch is felt through the seat frame.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Notchy travel is caused by design clearance in drive train (gear box; pinion to shaft to gear box) which causes changing acceleration/vibration dependant on seat angle and occupant mass.
A dampener clip is now available. Installing the dampener clip onto seat track mechanism will desensitize the track from the stick-slip condition. The dampener clip part number is 92138926.
Please follow this diagnosis process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
