The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

Customer may comment that the small round lamp at the end of the Tachometer does not light up.

The lamp is not used by the manufacturer.

However there are some aftermarket companies that will reprogram the IPC with aftermarket software which will use the lamp as a shift light. This is not recommended or endorsed by GM. If the lamp works on a GTO it is due to aftermarket software.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
