The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in the PI.

This is a product VME going out to all Pontiac Dealers on the product VME system. This regards 2005 GTOs with manual transmissions. Some 2005 Pontiac GTOs with manual transmissions may exhibit a condition where the digital display in the instrument cluster reads that the vehicle is in park as if the vehicle were equipped with an automatic transmission. Dealers have been replacing the instrument clusters and then reconfiguring the clusters to address this concern. To address this condition it is not necessary to replace the instrument cluster simply use the instrument configuration section of the Tech 2 to properly reconfigure the existing cluster in the car to reflect that the vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission.
