Front Seat Easy Entry Function Inoperative (Reset Driver and Passenger Seat Module)

Subject:Front Seat Easy Entry Function Inoperative (Reset Driver and Passenger Seat Module)

Models:2005 Pontiac GTO

Condition

Important: Vehicles built between May 25, 2005 and June 29, 2005 were produced with a new level module and are more susceptible to this condition.

Some customers may comment that when using the easy entry feature, the front seat will not move when the switch is pressed.

Cause

The cause of this condition may be due to the seat module setting a software travel stop position that is not valid. This can occur due to the vehicle or seat having a low voltage condition while the seat is being moved. This also can occur due to low battery voltage or high current draw from other vehicle systems. System voltage must drop below 10.7 volts while the seat is moving. Pre-delivery vehicles have experienced this condition due to a poor state of battery charge.

Correction

Reset the seat module using the procedure below.

  1. Remove the driver side knee bolster.
  2. Locate and remove the power seat circuit breaker from the relay center.
  3. Allow 30 seconds to drain the system.
  4. Reinstall the power seat circuit breaker into the relay center. The module will reset and erase any software travel limits. The seat should now operate correctly.
  5. Important: Unless the vehicle battery is charged to correct operating condition, this fault could repeat itself. Ensure that the vehicle battery charge is within the correct limits.

  6. Install the driver side knee bolster.
