The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
Some 2005 & 2006 Pontiac GTOs with manual transmissions may exhibit a condition where the digital display in the instrument cluster indicates that the vehicle is in park as if the vehicle was equipped with an automatic transmission.
Recommendation/Instructions:
It is NOT necessary to replace the instrument cluster to address this concern. Simply use the instrument cluster configuration section in the Tech 2 to reconfigure the existing cluster to properly reflect that the vehicle is equipped with a manual transmission.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
