Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Disconnect the high mounted stop lamp assembly connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between terminal A of the high mounted stop lamp assembly connector and ground.
  3. Depress the brake pedal.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Connect a test lamp between terminal A and terminal B of the high mounted stop lamp assembly connector.
  2. Depress the brake pedal.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe connector C3 of the left IP terminal C10.
  2. Depress the brake pedal.

Does the test lamp light?

Replace the faulty bulb or repair the open in the lamp assembly. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement .

Repair the open in CKT 750 between the high mounted stop lamp assembly and ground splice pack G401. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 20 between the left IP junction block and the high mounted stop lamp assembly. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
