When the ignition switch is in the RUN or the ACCY position, the electronically tuned radio receives power from the following components:

The clock and the memory circuits receive power from the RADIO BATTERY fuse at all times. The radio is grounded through CKT 151. When the ignition switch is in the RUN or the ACCY position, the vacuum fluorescent display illuminates in
order to display the following features:
• | The radio frequency setting |
The panel dimmer switch controls the radio illumination. When the headlamp switch is in the PARK or the HEAD position, voltage is applied through the panel dimmer switch and CKT 8 to the following components:
When the headlamp switch is in the PARK or the HEAD position, voltage is applied through CKT 9 to the radio. This condition signals the internal circuitry to adjust the brightness of the vacuum fluorescent display to a level determined
by the voltage of CKT 8.
When the radio is ON, the battery voltage is supplied to the antenna amplifier module through the power antenna circuit 145.
Remote Cassette Tape Player (Optional)
Voltage is supplied to the cassette player through the radio under the following conditions:
• | The ignition switch is turned to the RUN or the ACCY position. |
• | The radio power switch is in the ON position. |
When the remote cassette player is in the PLAY position, the cassette player returns a tape ON signal and the stereo audio signals to the radio. The tape ON signal causes the following actions to occur:
• | The receiver circuitry ignores the signals from the tuner. |
• | The receiver circuitry sends the audio signals from the cassette player to the speakers. |
The cassette player applies a mute signal to the radio in order prevent the audio sound of the following functions from being heard:
When the EJECT button is pushed on the cassette player, the following actions occur:
• | The tape ON signal terminates. |
• | The radio returns to normal operation. |
