Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe connector C2 of the turn/headlamp switch assembly between terminal C (left turn signal lamps) or terminal B (right turn signal lamps) and ground.
  3. Turn the inoperative turn signal on.

Does the test lamp light?

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the right (right lamps inoperative) or the left (left lamps inoperative) IP junction block connector C1 between terminal E4 (left turn signal lamps) or terminal F2 (right turn signal lamps) and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 4

Replace the turn/headlamp switch assembly. Refer to Multifunction Turn Signal Lever Replacement - On Vehicle in Steering Wheel and Column-Standard.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the right (right lamps inoperative) or the left (left lamps inoperative) IP junction block.

Repair the open in CKT 14 (left turn signal lamps) or CKT 15 (right turn signal lamps) between the IP junction block and the turn/headlamp switch assembly. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
