DECK LID DOES NOT STAY IN HALF OPEN POSITION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: 1988 GRAND PRIX LESS OPTION (V56) DECK LID ----------------- LUGGAGE CARRIER

Some owners of 1988 Grand Prix may comment that the rear, compartment deck lid does not stay open when raised to the half open position. Adjusting the torque rods will not change the function of the lid. One new torque rod should be installed and positioned in the middle notch. Use torque rod, P/N 10102517, left hand, available from GM Parts.

Follow procedure in service manual for replacement of torque rod.

Vehicles built after 1 February, 1988 will have deck lids that stay in the half open position.

Use the most applicable labour operation from the Canadian Labour Time Guide and claim 0.6 hours.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
