Some owners may comment that at speeds of 50 mph (80 km/h) and above, an intermittent type "hiss" noise can be heard at the "N' pillar. During diagnosis, the vehicle should be driven at different speeds and direction because the condition is sometimes difficult to reproduce.
This condition may be caused by a mold parting line inside the styling hole of the mirror. See Figure 1 for location. This may also be caused by an outer belt seal/molding not properly contacting the glass surface.
To correct the above condition, remove the parting line inside the styling hole of the mirror and repaint the mirror. See Figure 1, Item 1.
Before the mirror is reinstalled, replace the window belt reveal molding on vehicles built before VIN VF218000. The new molding has a round outer edge added to the top which acts as a stiffener. See Figure 2.

General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
