DEFINITION: The BCM does not sound the driver information display (DID) reminder when any vehicle door is open with the ignition switch in the RUN position. The BCM does not sound the trip calculator reminder upon the occurrence of a warning message from the trip calculator.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Open and close a vehicle door, while observing the DID/ trip calculator.

Does the DID/ trip calculator operate normally?

Was the BCM Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Use a DMM in order to probe between the BCM connector C2 terminal D3 and ground.
  2. Open a vehicle door, while measuring the resistance on the DMM.

Is the measured resistance within the specified value?

Less than 10 ohms with the door open (DID)/ Less than 10 ohms for 0.5 seconds, then infinite (trip calculator)

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Disconnect the BCM connector C2.
  3. Disconnect the DID or the trip calculator electrical connector.
  4. Use a DMM in order to measure the resistance between the BCM harness connector C2 terminal D3 and the following component connectors:
  5. • The DID harness connector terminal A
    • The trip calculator harness connector terminal B8.

Is the measured resistance within the specified value?

Less than 2 ohms

The DID/ trip calculator reminder is inoperative due to a malfunction of the DID/ trip calculator. Refer to DID Circuit Description.

  1. Inspect the BCM connector C2 terminal C15 for a poor connection.
  2. If the connection is OK, replace the BCM. Refer to BCM Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.

Repair the poor connection or the open in circuit 653.

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  2. Install the connectors or the components that were removed.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position for 6 seconds.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
  5. Remove the MALL PGM fuse.
  6. Turn the ignition switch to the ACC position.
  7. The BCM sounds the chime a number of times equivalent to the BCM type that is installed in the vehicle.

  8. Within 1 second, turn the ignition switch from the ACC position to the OFF position, and then, back to the ACC position.
  9. The BCM sounds any stored DTC's.
