System Description
The Heads- UP Display (HUD) is a secondary display system that optically
projects critical vehicle information off of the windshield. The information
may be displayed in English or Metric units. The display system is composed
of the HUD module, instrument cluster, control switch, and windshield.
The HUD displays the following images:
• | High Beam Indicator Symbol |
System Operation
The head-up display (HUD) system has an electric tilt adjust that is
controlled by the HUD up/down switch. Moving this switch directs the motor
to move the HUD image up or down on the windshield. The HUD is also equipped
with automatic step dimming which gives it the ability to sense outside light
conditions, via a photo-cell and automatically switch brightness levels. You
may adjust the HUD image brightness by moving the HUD dim switch. The HUD
up/down switch and the HUD dim switch are located to the left of the steering
column.
The HUD module uses various inputs in order to display the images. Below
you will find a list of the HUD images and their input source:
• | Speedometer-Receives it's input from the Powertrain Control
Module (PCM) |
• | Turn Signals-Turn signal indicators are driven by the exterior
lighting subsystem |
• | High Beam-The DIM monitors the high beam switch input |
• | Check Gages-The IPC monitors different inputs and sends
the message to illuminate |
