Removal Procedure
- Remove the rocker finish
panel to fender screws.
- Remove the rocker finish panel to rear quarter screws.
- Use a heat gun 152 mm (6 in) from the surface in
order to heat the molding.
Apply the heat for approximately 30 seconds using a circular
motion.
Notice: When removing body panels, apply tape to corners of panel and adjacent
surfaces to help prevent paint damage.
- Use a putty knife in order to peel the rocker finish panel from the
panel surface.
- Remove the rocker finish panel from the panel.
- Remove the rocker finish panel support from the body nuts.
- Remove the rocker finish panel support.
Installation Procedure
- Install the rocker finish
panel support.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the rocker
finish panel support to the body nuts.
Tighten
Tighten the body nuts to 6 N·m (53 lb in).
- Use Varnish Makers and Painters (VM&P) naptha in order to
clean the body panel.
- Use a heat lamp or heat gun in order to warm the body panel to
a minimum of 21 °C (70°F).
- Install the lower flange
and tabs of the rocker finish panel into the channels of the rocker panel
support.
- Peel the backing from the front and rear of the rocker finish
panel.
- Push the molding inboard in order to fully seat the molding into
the support and ensure a maximum bond of adhesive to the body.
- Install the rocker finish panel to the fender screws.
Tighten
Tighten the fender screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
- Install the rocker finish panel to the rear quarter panel screws
Tighten
Tighten the rear quarter panel screws to 2 N·m (18 lb in).
