Door Side Hinge

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 315802  Size: MH

    Important: In order to minimize door realignment, do not remove both door hinges at the same time. Do each hinge separately, and replace any broken hinges first.

  1. Use a rag in order to clean the hinge mounting surfaces on the door.
  2. Use a grease pencil or other suitable marker in order to mark the hinge location on the door surface.
  3. Support the door.
  4. Remove the intermediate door hinge bolts.

  6. Remove the door side hinge bolts.
  7. Remove the hinge.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the new hinge in position with the old alignment marks.

  2. Object Number: 315805  Size: MH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the door side hinge bolts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the door side hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

    Important: Use Loctite® Blue GM P/N 12345382 or equivalent prior to installing the fasteners.

  5. Install the intermediate door hinge bolts.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate door hinge bolts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  7. Remove the door support.
  8. Adjust the door as needed. Refer to Front Side Door Adjustment .

Body Side Hinge

Removal Procedure

  1. Open the door.

  2. Object Number: 315812  Size: SH
  3. Use a rag in order to clean the hinge mounting surface on the body pillar.
  4. Use a grease pencil or other suitable marker in order to mark the hinge location on the body pillar.
  5. Remove the front fender insulator in order to gain access to the body side hinge bolts (1,2,3). Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement in Body Front End.
  6. Important: Do not loosen the cone adjuster bolt (3) (10 mm hex head). The cone may fall down inside the pillar. This may create a rattle situation.

  7. Remove the two 13 mm body side hinge bolts (2).
  8. Remove the one torx head body side hinge bolt (1).
  9. Remove the body side hinge.

Installation Procedure

  1. Align the new hinge in position with the old alignment marks.

  3. Install the two 13 mm body side hinge bolts (2).
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the body side hinge bolts  to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  5. Install the 1 torx head body side hinge bolt (1).
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the torx head body side hinge bolt (2) to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  7. Install the intermediate door hinge bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the intermediate door hinge bolt to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).

  9. Install the front fender insulator. Refer to Front Fender Insulator Replacement in Body Front End.
  10. Close the door.
  11. Adjust the door. Refer to Front Side Door Adjustment .
