Removal Procedure
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
in General Information.
Notice: Refer to Catalytic Converter Movement Notice in the Preface section.
- Support the
exhaust system.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator from the exhaust pipe
rear hanger bracket.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger screw.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.
- Remove the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulators
from the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
- Loosen the outboard rear bumper impact bar bolt.
- Remove the inboard rear bumper impact bar bolt.
- Remove the exhaust muffler rear hanger bracket.
Installation Procedure
- Install the exhaust muffler rear hanger
bracket.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the inboard rear bumper impact
bar bolt.
Tighten
Tighten the rear bumper impact bar bolts to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulators to the exhaust
muffler rear hanger bracket.
- Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger bracket.
- Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger screw.
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust pipe rear hanger screw to 25 N·m (18.4 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe rear hanger insulator to the exhaust
pipe rear hanger bracket.
- Remove the support from the exhaust system.
- Inspect the exhaust system for leaks and underbody contact.
- Lower the vehicle.
