J 41352 Modular Column Holding Fixture


    Object Number: 368489  Size: SH

    Caution: Improper routing of the wire harness assembly may damage the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. This may result in a malfunction of the coil, which may cause personal injury.

  1. Snap the electric park lock (2) onto the electronic lock module assembly (1).
  2. Install the black connector into the electric park lock (2).

  3. Object Number: 415299  Size: SH
  4. Install the upper trim cover (2) onto the steering column.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the 2 TORX® head screws (1) into the upper trim cover (2).
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 1.5 N·m (13 lb in).

  8. Install the lower trim cover onto the upper trim cover in the following way:
  9. 5.1. Match the tab slots on the lower trim cover with the locking tabs on the upper trim cover.
    5.2. Tilt the lower trim cover up.
    5.3. Slide the lower trim cover forward until the locking tabs snap into the tab slots.

  10. Install the 2 pan head tapping screws (1) into the lower trim cover (2).
  11. Tighten
    Tighten the screws to 3.5 N·m (31 lb in).

  12. Install the tilt knob (1) into the steering column.

  13. Object Number: 415301  Size: SH
  14. Remove the steering column and J 41352 from the vise.
  15. Install the steering column into the vehicle. Refer to Steering Column Replacement .
  16. Install the steering wheel onto the steering column. Refer to Steering Wheel Replacement .
  17. Enable the inflatable restraint steering wheel module. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
