Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Two-Way Manual
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle.

- Remove the front seat trim panel. Refer to
Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement

- Remove the J-hooks from the seat cushion trim cover.
- Position the seat back to the full down position.
- Fold back the seat cushion pad and trim cover to access the adjuster bolts.
- Remove the cross brace to adjuster bolts.
- Remove the adjuster from the seat cushion frame.
- Remove the adjuster crosswire and assist springs.
- Remove the E/Z entry cable from the adjuster, if equipped.
- Separate the left and the right adjusters by removing the cross brace
bolts.
Installation Procedure
- Attach a cross brace to the left and the
right adjusters.
- Ensure that the tab bending downward at the center of the cross brace
faces the rear of the adjusters.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Secure the cross brace to adjuster with two bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the cross brace bolts to 6 N·m
(53 lb in).
- Install the crosswire and assist springs.
Important: Install the right and left seat adjuster
sliding mechanism in the same position that the mechanism had when you attached the
adjuster-to-seat bottom frame.
Install the adjuster assembly to the floor
pan attachments before you attach the adjusters to the seat. Use the floor pan as
a guide during assembly in order to ensure correct adjuster alignment. The floor pan
will act as an assembly fixture.
- Install the adjuster assembly to the floor pan.
- Install the seat adjuster to floor pan bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Position the seat to the adjuster assembly.
- Install the frame to adjuster bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Move the seat back to the upright position.
- Inspect the operation of the manual seat adjusters.
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to

- Install the seat cushion cover and pad. Refer to
Front Seat Cushion Replacement

- Install the front seat trim panels. Refer to
Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the E/Z entry cable to the adjuster, if equipped.
- Install the front seat in the vehicle. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket

Front Seat Adjuster Replacement Six-Way Power
Removal Procedure
- Remove the front seat from the vehicle. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket
.
- Remove the seat belt buckle nut.
Remove the seat belt from the seat.
- Remove the J-hooks holding the seat trim cover to the seat frame.
- Remove the front seat trim panel. Refer to
Front Seat Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Position the seat back all the way down.
- Lift up on the cushion trim cover and pad to access the seat frame to
adjuster bolts.
- Remove the seat frame to adjuster bolts.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the adjuster cross brace.
- Disconnect the seat belt electrical harness, drivers seat only.
- Disconnect the electrical harness from the 3 electric motors.
- Remove the lumbar adjuster relays from the motor bracket.
- Remove the adjuster from the seat cushion frame.
Installation Procedure
- Position the seat to the adjuster assembly.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the frame to adjuster bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
- Position the seat back to the upright position.
- Connect the electrical harness to the adjuster cross brace.
- Connect the seat belt electrical harness, drivers seat only.
- Connect the electrical harness from the 3 electric motors.
- Install the lumbar adjuster relays to the motor bracket.
- Install the seat pad and trim cover J-retainers.
- Install the seat belt.
Tighten
Tighten the nut to 42 N·m (31 lb ft).
- Install the front seat trim panel. Refer to

- Install the front seat in the vehicle. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket

- Inspect the power seat adjusters. Verify that the adjusters are in phase
with each other. Refer to
Seat Adjuster Phase Adjustment
