J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the left rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 732929  Size: SH
  4. Remove the equalizer nut from the equalizer stud, which is part of the left rear cable.
  5. Disconnect the cable button from the caliper lever.
  6. Remove the wheel speed sensor harness clamp from the lower control arm.
  7. Remove the left rear park brake cable from the caliper bracket.

  8. Object Number: 802227  Size: SH
  9. Use J 37043 to depress the retaining tabs (1) on the left park brake cable.
  10. Remove the left park brake cable from the bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 802227  Size: SH
  1. Press the left park brake cable into the bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs (1) are properly seated.
  2. Install the cable into the caliper bracket.
  3. Install the cable end button into the caliper lever.
  4. Clamp the wheel speed sensor harness to lower control arm.
  5. Install the equalizer stud to the equalizer nut, which is part of the equalizer assembly.

  6. Object Number: 732929  Size: SH
  7. Take up the cable slack at the equalizer.
  8. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Adjust the park brake system. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
