J 37043 Parking Brake Cable Release Tool

Removal Procedure

  1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  2. Remove the right rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.

  3. Object Number: 732929  Size: SH
  4. Relieve the park brake cable tension at the equalizer.

  5. Object Number: 717002  Size: SH
  6. Disconnect the right rear park brake cable (3) from the clip (2).
  7. Disconnect the cable button from the caliper lever.
  8. Remove the wheel speed sensor harness clamp from the lower control arm.
  9. Remove the right rear park brake cable from the caliper bracket.

  10. Object Number: 802227  Size: SH
  11. Use the J 37043 to depress the retaining tabs (1) on the right park brake cable.
  12. Remove the right park brake cable from the bracket.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 802227  Size: SH
  1. Press the right park brake cable into the bracket. Ensure that the locking tabs (1) are properly seated.
  2. Install the cable into the caliper bracket.
  3. Install the cable end button into the caliper lever.
  4. Clamp the wheel speed sensor harness onto lower control arm.

  5. Object Number: 717002  Size: SH
  6. Connect the right rear park brake cable (3) to the clip (2).

  7. Object Number: 732929  Size: SH
  8. Take up the cable slack at the equalizer.
  9. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  10. Lower the vehicle.
  11. Adjust the park brake system. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment .
