The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.

It has been reported and confirmed that wire chaffing can occur causing the traction control system warning light to come on, a service traction system message, and an engine power reduced message.

Part of the engine wiring harness on the driver's side of the engine compartment is secured to the EBCM/BPMV bracket. If the harness is not routed properly, the harness can contact the corner of the EBCM/BPMV bracket, and chaffing can occur. If chaffing is found, repair the wire harness per SI procedures, and route the harness so that it no longer contacts the corner of the bracket. This can usually be accomplished by reindexing the harness in the retainer.

Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
