SERVICE MANUAL UPDATE
This bulletin is an addition to Section 9T of the 1990 Pontiac LeMans Service Manual.
AUXILIARY FRONT SHOULDER BELT TONGUE REMOVAL
If the automatic safety belt system has been damaged, the driver may have installed the auxiliary front shoulder belt tongues into the guide rail. They must be removed from the automatic safety belt system as part of the repair.
1. Remove front shoulder belt from auxiliary tongue.
2. Release the spring clip that retains the auxiliary tongue. Access to the spring clip is through the belt guide opening just above the auxiliary tongue.
3. Push the spring clip away from the auxiliary tongue and lift up on tongue to remove.
4. Connect front shoulder belt to the automatic safety belt carrier.
5. Check system for proper operation.
General Motors bulletins are intended for use by professional technicians, not a "do-it-yourselfer". They are written to inform those technicians of conditions that may occur on some vehicles, or to provide information that could assist in the proper service of a vehicle. Properly trained technicians have the equipment, tools, safety instructions and know-how to do a job properly and safely. If a condition is described, do not assume that the bulletin applies to your vehicle, or that your vehicle will have that condition. See a General Motors dealer servicing your brand of General Motors vehicle for information on whether your vehicle may benefit from the information.
