Rear Wheel Bearing End Play Inspection
  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.

    3. Object Number: 1220915 Size: SH
  3. Check the wheel bearing play by moving the top and the bottom of the tire in an in-and-out motion.

    4. Specification
    The rear wheel bearing play is 0 mm (0 in).

  4. If the bearing play exceeds the specification, tighten the castellated nut. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement.
  5. If the bearing play exceeds the specification after tightening, replace the wheel bearing. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
  6. Lower the vehicle.

Rear Wheel Bearing Free Load Inspection
  1. Release the park brake.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the wheels. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.

    4. Object Number: 1220794 Size: SH
  4. Check the torque when the hub moves by a spring scale.

    5. Specification
    The standard-no load is 0.137-0.422 N·m (1.2-3.7 lb in).

  5. If the checked torque exceeds the specification, tighten the castellated nut. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement.
  6. If the checked torque exceeds the specification after tightening, replace the wheel bearing. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
