Removal Procedure

    Warning: Refer to Battery Disconnect Warning in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1618473 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Evacuate the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
  3. Remove the heater/air distribution case assembly. Refer to Heater Assembly Replacement.

    4. Object Number: 1618494 Size: SH
  4. Remove the screws that secure the evaporator case assembly.

    5. Object Number: 1618497 Size: SH
  5. Remove the evaporator case cover screws.

    6. Object Number: 1618498 Size: SH
  6. Remove the evaporator core from the evaporator case.
  7. Remove the expansion valve stud bolts with the expansion valve. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 1618498 Size: SH
  1. Install the expansion valve. Refer to Air Conditioning Evaporator Thermal Expansion Valve Replacement.
  2. Install the evaporator core into the case.

    3. Object Number: 1618497 Size: SH
  3. Install the evaporator core case cover with the screws.

    4. Object Number: 1618494 Size: SH
  4. Install the evaporator core case with the screws.

    5. Object Number: 1618473 Size: SH
  5. Install the instrument panel carrier assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Carrier Replacement.
  6. Connect the negative battery cable.
  7. Recharge the A/C system. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging.
