Rear Quarter Molding Replacement Pontiac

1. Remove the screws from the rear quarter molding.



2. Use a heat gun 152 mm (6 inches) from the surface in order to heat the lower quarter molding.

Use a circular motion for 30 seconds when applying heat.

3. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to peel the quarter molding from the surface.

Do NOT damage the paint.

4. Pull the lower quarter molding out in order to release the retainers.
5. Pull the lower quarter molding out in order to release from the lower locating pins.
6. Pull the quarter molding up in order to release from the upper support.
7. Remove the quarter molding from the quarter panel.



8. Pull out the center pins of the support retainers.



9. Use a heat gun 152 mm (6 inches) from the surface in order to heat the lower quarter molding.

Use a circular motion for 30 seconds when applying heat.

10. Use a flat-bladed tool in order to peel the quarter molding from the surface.

Do NOT damage the paint.

11. Remove the quarter molding support from the quarter panel.
12. Use oil-free naphtha or alcohol in order to clean the body panel.
13. Remove all traces of adhesive from the body panel.

Important: 

•	Do NOT touch the exposed adhesive tape with your hands.

•	Do NOT allow the exposed adhesive tape collect any dirt or foreign material.

1. Remove the protective liner from the back side of the support.
2. Use a heat lamp or heat gun in order to warm the door to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).



3. Starting with the front hole, insert the support retainers into the holes.
4. Press in the support in order to ensure a maximum bond to the quarter panel.
5. Drive in the center pins of the retainers.
6. Use a heat lamp or heat gun in order to warm the door to a minimum of 21°C (70°F).



7. Install the quarter molding to the quarter panel.



8. Snap the center flange of the quarter molding into the 2 outer retainers.
9. Snap the locating pins into the holes of the quarter panel.
10. Snap the center flange of the quarter molding into the remainder of the retainers on the quarter panel.
11. Push the upper portion of the quarter molding inboard over the retainers.
12. Remove the protective liner from the back side of the quarter molding.
13. Press the bottom of the quarter molding inboard in order to ensure a maximum bond to the quarter panel.
