Subject:Air Conditioning (A/C) Inoperative, Service Engine Soon (SES) Light On, Low Power Message on Driver Information Center (DIC), Vehicle in "Limp Home" Mode, Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0532, P0533, P1681, P2138 (Refer to Recall 05046 and/or Recall 05034)

Models:2005 Chevrolet Cobalt
2005 Pontiac Pursuit (Canada Only)
with 2.2L Engine (VIN F -- RPO L61) and Air Conditioning (RPO C67)



This bulletin is being revised to update the Correction Information. Please discard Corporate Bulletin Number 05-01-38-006A (Section 01 - HVAC).


Condition

Some customers may comment on any or all of the following conditions:

    • The heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system may not blow cold air.
    • The Service Engine Soon (SES) light may be on.
    • A "Low Power" message may be displayed on the driver's information center (DIC).
    • The vehicle may be in the "limp home" mode.

Technicians may find Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) P0532, P0533, P1681 or P2138.

Cause

This condition may be caused by an air conditioning (A/C) pressure sensor failure due to a voltage spike from the engine cooling fan.

Correction

Technicians should refer to Recall 05046 and/or Recall 05034.
