Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1591818 Size: SH
  1. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
  2. Remove the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
  3. Remove the evaporative emission (EVAP) canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement .
  4. Remove the intake camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Intake .
  5. Remove the air inlet grille panel center bracket. Remove the 2 nuts on the cowl.
  6. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the thermostat housing for access and removal of the oil cooler. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
  7. Reposition the surge tank outlet hose clamps at the thermostat housing and oil cooler.
  8. Remove the surge tank outlet hose from the thermostat housing and oil cooler.

  9. Reposition the radiator outlet hose clamp at the oil cooler.
  10. Remove the radiator outlet hose from the oil cooler.
  11. Remove the radiator outlet hose clip from the bracket.

    12. Object Number: 1578314 Size: SH
  12. Remove the oil cooler bolts.
  13. Remove the oil cooler.

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1578314 Size: SH
  1. Position the oil cooler to the engine block.
  2. Install the oil cooler bolts.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

  3. Install the radiator outlet hose to the oil cooler.
  4. Position the radiator outlet hose clamp at the oil cooler.
  5. Install the radiator outlet hose clip to the bracket.

  6. Install the surge tank outlet hose to the thermostat housing and oil cooler.
  7. Position the surge tank outlet hose clamps at the thermostat housing and oil cooler.
  8. Install the radiator outlet hose to the thermostat housing. Refer to Radiator Outlet Hose Replacement .
  9. Install the air inlet panel bracket nuts.
  10. Install the intake camshaft position sensor. Refer to Camshaft Position Sensor Replacement - Intake .
  11. Install the EVAP canister purge solenoid valve. Refer to Evaporative Emission Canister Purge Solenoid Valve Replacement .
  12. Install the air inlet grille panel. Refer to Air Inlet Grille Panel Replacement .
  13. Fill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling System Draining and Filling .
