When the rear compartment lid release switch is operated, the rear compartment lid release switch signal circuit to the body control module (BCM) is switched to ground. The BCM receives the rear compartment lid release switch input and applies ground to the trunk release relay control circuit. This energizes the trunk release relay coil, closing the switch side contacts, allowing battery voltage to be applied to the rear compartment lid release actuator and folding top cover actuator, releasing the buttresses and opening the rear compartment lid. Ground for the rear compartment lid release switch is provided at G201. The rear compartment lid ajar switch, rear compartment lid release actuator, and folding top cover actuator are provided ground at G301. For more detailed information concerning rear compartment lid release refer to Luggage Compartment Description and Operation .

⇒ | If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If not ACTIVE, test the release switch signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If circuit tests normal, replace the BCM. |
⇒ | If the parameter does not cycle, replace the switch. |
⇒ | If the actuators are still activated, repair the relay switch control circuit for a short to voltage. |
⇒ | If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the voltage supply circuit for an open/high resistance. If the trunk fuse is open, test the voltage supply circuit for a short to ground. |
⇒ | If the actuators are not activated, test the release actuator control circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the actuator is not activated, test the release actuator control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the folding top cover actuator. |
⇒ | If greater than 1.0 ohm, test the ground circuit for an open/high resistance. |
⇒ | If the actuator is not activated, test the release actuator control circuit for an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, test or replace the rear compartment lid release actuator. |
⇒ | If less than infinite resistance, replace the switch. |
⇒ | If greater than 1 ohm, replace the switch. |
⇒ | If the resistance is not within the specified range, replace the relay. |
