Important: The park brake cable adjusting nut is a nylon lock type. Use ONLY HAND TOOLS whenever tightening or loosening the adjusting nut.
Preliminary Procedures
- Remove the center console. Refer to
Front Floor Console Replacement
.
- With the park brake lever fully released, completely back off the cable adjustment nut.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to
Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle
.
- Remove the tire and wheel assemblies. Refer to
Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation
.

| Park Brake Cable Equalizer
Tip
• | Carefully position the driveline tunnel insulator downward just enough to access the cable equalizer. |
• | Rotate the front cable end to release the cable from the equalizer. |

| Park Brake Cable at the Rear Brake Caliper Cable
Tip
• | Release the wheel speed sensor harness clips from the park brake cable. |
• | Disconnect the park brake cables from the park brake actuator levers on the brake calipers. |

| Park Brake Rear Cable Assembly
Tip
• | Move the cable conduit rearward to clear the tunnel bracket, then lift the cables to release the cables from the bracket. |
• | The rear park brake cable is a one piece assembly. |
