1/4 WINDOW ASSY. SERVICE BODY MANUAL REVISION

VEHICLES AFFECTED: All 1984 'J-67' Styles

Due to changes in the 'J-67' style quarter window assembly, the following procedures should be used in place of the steps listed in the 1984 Fisher Body Service Manual.

'J' Style - Section 6, Page 6-18 Guide Block ----------- Removal -------- CAUTION: Eye protection should be worn when performing the following steps in order to minimize the chance of personal injury.

NOTICE: Do not use a centre punch to drill the mandrel out of the rivet as this will damage the regulator back plate tracks.

Step 3 -- Remove the rivets (Item 9, Fig. 1) by using a cold chisel and hammer. Shear off the rivets from the side opposite the rivet head. Drill out the remainder of the rivet using a 6.8 mm (17/64 inch) drill bit.

Installation

Step 3 Using a rivet gun and 1/4 inch diameter x 1/2 inch long rivets, install the regulator attaching bracket to the guide assembly.

Step 4 Install the nut on the bolt holding the guide block to the glass assembly; torque to 4 N.m (36 in-lbs).

CAUTION:

Eye protection should be worn when performing the following steps to minimize the chance of personal injury.

Step 2 -- Remove the rivets (Item 10, Figure 1) using a 4.4 mm (11/64 inch) drill bit and remove the rivet (Item 12, Figure 1) by drilling out the rivet using a 6.8 mm (17/64 inch) dri11 bit.

Installation

Step 1 -- Install the motor to the quarter glass assembly using a rivet gun and 5/32 inch diameter x 5/8 inch long rivets to replace rivets (item 10, Figure 1) and a 1/4 inch diameter x 1/2 inch long rivet to replace the rivet (Item 12, Figure 1).
