Notice: Proper stoplamp switch adjustment is essential. Improper stoplamp switch
adjustment may cause brake drag, heat buildup and excessive brake lining wear.
Important: Adjust the stop lamp switch and the cruise control release at the same
time. The adjustment procedures for the stop lamp switch and the cruise
control release switch are identical.
- With the brake pedal fully released, ensure that the stop lamp plunger
is fully depressed against the brake pedal shanks.
- Insert the stop lamp switch (1)
and the cruise control switch (3), if equipped, into the brake pedal
bracket (2).
- Push the brake pedal forward
in order to set the brake push rod into the booster.
- Pull the brake pedal to
the rear, against the internal stop. The stop lamp switch and the cruise
control switch will be adjusted.
- Inspect the stop lamps for proper operation.
