The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
Condition/Concern:
The temperature display in the rear view mirror may read higher than the actual ambient temperature. This will usually occur during extended idle and stop/go traffic.
Recommendation/Instructions:
Due to the location of the ambient temperature sensor, the sensor may pick up added heat from the radiator. The update criteria for the temperature display is listed in eSI Document ID # 1271794. To diagnosis, compare the operation to a like vehicle. It will be important to make sure both vehicles have been operating at the same engine temperature when comparing. Be sure to conform to the update criteria. If comparable, the operation of the temperature reading is considered a normal operating characteristic. Do not replace any parts for this concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
