Attention: | THIS IS NOT A RECALL. This bulletin ONLY applies to vehicles in which the customer has commented about a concern that could be caused by the BCM AND the EI number shows in GMVIS. All others should disregard this bulletin and proceed with diagnostics found in published service information. |
Important: If the customer did not bring their vehicle in for an issue that is diagnosed as being caused by the BCM, DO NOT proceed with this bulletin.
Customers may bring their vehicle to the dealer for a number of concerns which may be diagnosed as being caused by the BCM. Currently, approximately 75% of BCMs returned to General Motors are tested and identified as No Trouble Found (NTF).
DO NOT REPLACE THE BCM.
GM Engineering is attempting to determine the root cause of BCM replacements. If the diagnosis leads to the replacement of the BCM, DO NOT REPLACE THE BCM. Engineering is requesting specific information be documented on the repair order and communicated to GM. Once the necessary information is obtained, the technician should contact the PQC. The PQC will establish a technical assistance case to document the information.

The Warranty Parts Center (WPC) will be requesting the return of Equinox BCMs that are replaced. A WPC Special Part Request will be faxed to the dealership to request return of the replaced components. Do NOT return the parts until the Special Part Request is received, and follow instructions in bulletin 99-00-89-019C when returning the parts.
