Important: Apply a small amount of sealer GM P/N 1234579 or equivalent on either
side of the rear main bearing cap, where the seal surface on the cap meets
the cylinder block.
- Install the oil pan gasket.
- Install the oil pan.
- Install the retaining bolts.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 25 N·m (18 lb ft).
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the side bolts. Use the J 39505
.
Tighten
Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
- Install the transaxle brace to the oil pan. Refer to Transaxle
Brace in Automatic Transaxle.
- Install the starter motor. Refer to Starter Motor in Cranking
System.
- Install the flywheel inspection cover.
- Install the engine mount bracket. Refer to
Engine Mount Bracket Replacement
- Install the engine mount. Refer to
Engine Mount Replacement
.
- Raise the drivetrain and the front suspension frame bolts.
- Install the rear drivetrain and front suspension frame bolts.
- Install the engine mount frame side nuts to the drivetrain and
front suspension frame. Refer to
Engine Mount Replacement
.
- Install the transaxle mount frame side nuts from the drivetrain
and suspension frame. Refer to Transaxle Mounts in Automatic Transaxle.
- Remove the floor stands from the drivetrain and the front suspension
frame.
- Install the engine splash shield.
- Install the oil level sensor.
- Install the intermediate steering shaft bolt.
- Install the front exhaust manifold pipe. Refer to Exhaust Manifold
Pipe in Exhaust System.
- Lower the vehicle.
- Remove the J 28467-360
. and the J 28467-90
and
the J 28467-200
- Install the electric engine cooling fan.
- Install the engine mount strut bracket to the engine.
- Install the right engine mount strut to the engine.
- Install the hood panel.
- Add engine oil.
