Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to

    Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  2. Drain the cooling system. Refer to Cooling and Radiator.
  3. Remove the air cleaner duct. Refer to Air Cleaner in Driveability and Emissions.
  4. Important: Relieve the fuel pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure in Engine Fuel.

  5. Remove the fuel lines. Refer to Fuel Lines in Engine Fuel.
  6. Remove the heater pipe to lower intake manifold. Refer to Cooling and Radiator.
  7. Remove the heat shield screws and the heat shield. Refer to
  8. Remove the crossover pipe nuts. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement .
  9. Remove the crossover pipe. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement .
  10. Remove the crossover. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement .
  11. Remove the oil pump drive bolt.
  12. Remove the oil pump drive clamp.
  13. Remove the oil pump drive.
  14. Remove the oil pump drive seal.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the oil pump drive and the o-ring.
  2. Install the oil pump drive clamp.
  3. Install the oil pump drive clamp bolt.
  4. Install the crossover. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement
  5. Install the crossover pipe. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement
  6. Install the crossover pipe nuts. Refer to Exhaust Crossover Replacement
  7. Install the heat shield screws and the heat shield.
  8. Install the fuel lines. Refer to Fuel Lines in Engine Fuel.
  9. Install the air cleaner duct. Refer to Air Cleaner in Driveability and Emissions.
  10. Refill the cooling system. Refer to Cooling and Radiator.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
