Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 187175 Size: SH

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component. Disconnect the negative battery cable to prevent an electrical spark should a tool or equipment come in contact with an exposed electrical terminal. Failure to follow these precautions may result in personal injury and/or damage to the vehicle or its components.

  1. Remove the ground (negative) battery cable.
  2. Remove the inflator air valve opening cover by pulling the lever inboard.
  3. Remove the inflator control panel.
  4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the inflator solenoid.
  5. Remove the air lines from the inflator solenoid.
  6. Remove the plastic cap from the inflator fill valve.
  7. Remove the nut retaining the inflator fill valve to the inflator control panel.
  8. Remove the bolt cover and nut retaining the inflator solenoid (4) to the inflator control panel.
  9. Remove the washer and the inflator solenoid (4) from the inflator control panel.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 187175 Size: SH
  1. Install the washer over the inflator fill valve stem.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the inflator solenoid (4) to the inflator control panel and the nut to the inflator fill valve.
  4. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 6 N·m (53 lb in).

  5. Install the plastic cap to the inflator fill valve.
  6. Install the nut retaining the inflator solenoid (4) to the inflator control panel.
  7. Tighten
Tighten the nut to 3 N·m (27 lb in).

  8. Install the air lines to the inflator solenoid.
  9. Reconnect the electrical connector to the inflator solenoid.
  10. Install the inflator control panel.
  11. Install the inflator air valve opening cover by pushing the lever outboard.
  12. Reconnect the ground (negative ) battery cable. Refer to

Caution: Unless directed otherwise, the ignition and start switch must be in the OFF or LOCK position, and all electrical loads must be OFF before servicing any electrical component.
