Subject: | SES Light due to a P0133 DTC with no Engine Performance Concerns - Inspect for Leaking Intake Gasket |
Models: | 2004-2006 Pontiac Vibe |
with 1.8L Engine (VIN 8 - RPO LV6) |
This PI superceded so a proactive DCS message can be sent to dealers with active TAC cases on AIP3269 to advise them of a possible intake gasket concern. Please discard AIP3269A.
The following diagnosis might be helpful if the vehicle exhibits the symptom(s) described in this PI.
On rare occasions, a SES light and no engine performance issues may be experienced due to a P0133 DTC. Typically, this will be a history DTC that is hard to duplicate.
If the SI diagnostics do not isolate a cause for this concern, review the freeze frame data for the ECT sensor. Cold start the engine, allow it to warm up, and check for a vacuum leak around the intake ports of the gasket as the engine warms up to the ECT sensor reading from the freeze frame data. If a leaking intake manifold gasket is found, replace the intake manifold gasket and evaluate the concern.
If this is not the result of an intake gasket leak or if the intake gasket does not repair the P0133 DTC, and SI diagnostics do not isolate a cause for this concern, no repairs should be performed at this time. The cause of this concern is under investigation. Once a repair is developed, this PI will be updated additional details and a related DCS message will be sent to dealers with a TAC case on this concern.
Please follow this diagnostic or repair process thoroughly and complete each step. If the condition exhibited is resolved without completing every step, the remaining steps do not need to be performed.
