Rear Brake Shield Replacement All Wheel Drive

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear knuckle. Refer to Knuckle Replacement.

  2. Object Number: 2010365  Size: SH
  3. Remove the wheel bearing dust deflector (1).

  4. Object Number: 2010368  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4).
  6. Remove the wheel bearing and hub assembly from the knuckle.
  7. Remove the rear brake shield from the knuckle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear brake shield to the knuckle.
  2. Install the wheel bearing and hub assembly to the knuckle.
  3. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) to the knuckle and tighten to 56 N·m (41 lb ft).

  5. Object Number: 2010378  Size: SH
  6. Align the hole (1) for the rear wheel speed sensor in a NEW dust deflector with the hole in the knuckle.
  7. Use a hydraulic press and press tools in order to install a NEW dust deflector.
  8. Install the rear knuckle. Refer to Knuckle Replacement.

Rear Brake Shield Replacement GT

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  2. Remove the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly. Refer to Rear Wheel Bearing and Hub Replacement.
  3. Remove the park brake hardware with the park brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement.

  4. Object Number: 817998  Size: SH
  5. Remove the rear brake shield (3).

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 818011  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear brake shield (1) to the knuckle.
  2. Apply high temperature lubricant to the metal contact points on the rear brake shield and on the adjuster (4, 5, 6).
  3. Assemble the adjuster.
  4. Install the park brake hardware with the park brake shoes. Refer to Parking Brake Shoe Replacement.
  5. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.

Rear Brake Shield Replacement Except All Wheel Drive and GT

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
  2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
  3. Remove the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  4. Loosen the park brake system. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
  5. Remove the rear wheel speed sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement.
  6. Remove the rear park brake cable and the lever protector from the hub and axle assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement.
  7. Remove the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.

  8. Object Number: 2010385  Size: SH
  9. Remove the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4) and the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly.
  10. Remove the rear brake shield from the rear axle.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the rear brake shield to the rear axle.
  2. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 2010385  Size: SH
  3. Install the rear wheel bearing and hub assembly with the 4 bolts (1, 2, 3, 4). Tighten the bolts to 100 N·m (74 lb ft).
  4. Install the rear brake rotor. Refer to Rear Brake Rotor Replacement.
  5. Install the rear park brake cable and the lever protector to the hub and axle assembly. Refer to Parking Brake Rear Cable Replacement.
  6. Install the rear wheel speed sensor. Refer to Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement.
  7. Adjust the park brake system. Refer to Park Brake Adjustment.
  8. Install the rear tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
  10. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection.
