Accelerator Pedal Replacement FWD

Removal Procedure

    Important: Do not remove the accelerator pedal position (APP) sensor from the accelerator pedal assembly. The APP sensor and pedal assembly are serviced as one unit.

    Important: Do not attempt to adjust the APP sensor. The APP sensor calibration is preset at the factory.

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector (2) from the APP sensor (1).
  2. Remove the 2 fasteners (3) and the APP sensor and pedal assembly (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the APP sensor and pedal assembly (1) to the vehicle.
  2. Secure the accelerator pedal assembly to the vehicle with 2 fasteners (3).
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

    Tighten
    Tighten the 2 fasteners to 5 N·m (44 lb in).

  4. Connect the electrical connector (2) to the APP sensor (1).

Accelerator Pedal Replacement AWD

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the accelerator cable from the accelerator pedal lever.
  2. Remove the 2 bolts (3).
  3. Remove the accelerator pedal and the pedal lever from the vehicle.
  4. Remove the one retainer, the spring, the pin, and the accelerator pedal from the pedal lever.

Installation Procedure

  1. Connect the accelerator pedal to the pedal lever. Secure the pedal with one pin, a spring, and a retainer.
  2. Connect the accelerator pedal and the pedal lever to the vehicle.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. Secure with the 2 bolts (3).
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the bracket bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the accelerator cable to the accelerator pedal lever.
