For 1990-2009 cars only
Removal Procedure
- Drain the automatic transaxle fluid.
- Remove the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement.
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
- Remove the transmission oil filler tube assembly.
- Remove the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side.
- Remove the automatic transaxle oil pan assembly.
- Remove the bolts (1), oil pan and gasket.
- Disconnect the shift solenoid valve connectors (1-7).
- Remove the bolt and lock plate, and disconnect the ATF temperature sensor.
- Disconnect the transmission wire connector.
- Remove the bolt (1) and transmission wire.
- Remove the O-ring (1) from the transmission wire.
Installation Procedure
- Coat a new O-ring (1) of the transmission wire connector with ATF WS and install it to the transmission wire.
- Install the transmission wire with the bolt (1) and tighten to 5 N·m (44 lb in).
- Connect the transmission wire connector.
- Coat the O-ring of the ATF temperature sensor with ATF WS.
- Install the ATF temperature sensor with the lock plate and bolt and tighten to 7 N·m (62 lb in).
- Connect the shift solenoid valve connectors (1-7).
- Install the automatic transaxle oil pan assembly.
- Apply sealant Three Bond 1281 or equivalent to the bolts.
- Using a new gasket, install the oil pan to the transaxle case with the bolts (1) and tighten to 8 N·m (71 lb in).
- Install the transmission oil level indicator tube assembly.
- Install the battery tray. Refer to Battery Tray Replacement.
- Install the battery. Refer to Battery Replacement.
- Install the engine splash shield. Refer to Engine Splash Shield Replacement - Left Side.
- Add automatic transaxle fluid.
- Inspect the transaxle fluid level.
Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.
Note: Since the bolts should be seal bolts, apply sealant Three Bond 1281 or equivalent to the bolts and tighten them within 10 minutes of application.
