  1. Remove the No. 1 transfer case plug and gasket.

    2. Note: When changing oil, recheck the oil level after driving.

  2. Check that the oil level is within 0-5 mm (0-0.197 in) (a) from the lowest position of the hole for No. 1 transfer case plug.
  3. When the oil level is too low, check for oil leakage.
    4. • When checking oil, make sure that the vehicle is level.
    • When adding oil, pour it slowly.
    • Add oil gradually at several intervals.
    • After leaving it alone for 5 min, check the oil level again.

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

  4. Install the No. 1 transfer case plug with a new gasket.

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the plug to 49 N·m (36 lb ft).
