Exhaust System Insulator, Hanger, Bracket Replacement Adjustable Exhaust Hanger

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.



2. Remove the exhaust hanger bracket assembly bolts (4).
3. Remove the adjustable exhaust hanger bracket assembly (3) from the muffler hanger rod.
4. Remove 2 U-clips in the slots (1 and 2) in the spare tire crossmember.

1. Install 2 NEW U-clips in the slots (1 and 2) in the spare tire crossmember. Seat the clips into position.
2. Install the adjustable exhaust hanger bracket assembly (3) onto the muffler hanger rod with the 2 bolts (4) and hand tighten.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.

3. Position the adjustable exhaust hanger bracket assembly (3) so that the exhaust tip is centered with at least 25 mm (1 in) of clearance to the rear fascia opening. Tighten the exhaust hanger bracket bolts to 22 N·m (16 lb ft).

Exhaust System Insulator, Hanger, Bracket Replacement Converter To Transmission

1. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle.
2. Disconnect the heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) electrical connector.
3. Remove the nuts that secure the catalytic converter pipe to the exhaust manifold.
4. Discard the old exhaust seal. Do NOT reuse the seal.
5. Remove the nuts that secure the catalytic converter pipe to the muffler.



6. Remove the bolt securing the exhaust hanger to the transmission mount.
7. Remove the transmission mount.
8. Remove the catalytic converter and exhaust hanger assembly from the vehicle.



9. Remove the exhaust hanger from the catalytic converter.

1. Install the exhaust hanger to the catalytic converter.
2. Install the catalytic converter and exhaust hanger assembly to the vehicle.

Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.




3. Install the bolt securing the catalytic converter pipe hanger to the transmission mount and tighten to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).
4. Install the transmission mount.
5. Install the catalytic converter pipe to the exhaust manifold with a NEW exhaust seal.
6. Hand thread the nuts evenly against the exhaust flange until the pipe is secure and tighten to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).
7. Connect the HO2S electrical connector.
8. Lower the vehicle.
