Some customers may comment that the Service Engine Soon telltale is illuminated and/or the cruise control is inoperative. DTCs P0300 "Misfire Detected" and/or P0315 "Crankshaft Variation Position Not Learned" and/or P0507 "Idle Speed Too High" and/or P1574 "Stop Lamp Switch Circuit" and/or P1621 "Control Module Long Term Memory Performance" may be set.
A battery voltage interruption, such as a low state of charge and/or a battery disconnect condition, may cause a memory loss in the ECM.
Reprogram the ECM with the appropriate calibration.
Important: Before installing the new ECM calibration, make sure the Saturn Service Stall (SSS) version is TIS 5.0 2005 or later.
Important: While the ignition is OFF, apply the parking brake to disable the daytime running lights (DRLs) prior to starting the reprogramming procedures. On IONs equipped with "Auto Headlamp Feature," the headlamps must be turned off prior to programming.
Important: Technician must select "Reprogram" option in order to reprogram the ECM.
